Region: China Alta, Tolima
Notes: Red apple, caramel, raisin
Coffee Story: A relatively young coffee-growing area, China Alta has quickly gained acclaim for high cup quality, sweetness and complexity. Reinaldo Parra and his farm Las Piñas are at the forefront of this praise. Reinaldo is an experienced and influential coffee producer, with many of his neighbouring farmers looking to him for advice and guidance. If this washed Caturra is anything to go by, Reinaldo’s reputation is well deserved.
After selective hand-harvesting, this coffee was hand pulped before undergoing an extended fermentation. The beans were then washed before being carefully dried over ten to eighteen days. This intricate process has produced a great coffee that exudes notes of red apple and raisin, paired with a complex caramel sweetness and body. Rich and syrupy with distinct yet mellow acidity, this characteristically Columbian coffee is a real crowd-pleaser.
