Coffee Story: In order to be able to have a farm, I had to leave to live in the USA, in the year 1996. I work very hard day and night, I had no weekends, in order to save money and be able to invest in my family and be able to have a better way of life living in the US.
I was able to buy a small farm, where I sent the money to my wife so she could also start planting coffee and this is how we begin and now we have two manzanas of coffee in full production.
We used to sell our washed coffee to a local buyer in the area who would give us the price that was offered to everyone. I do good maintenance in my in my farm, I clean and do pruning of the coffee trees.
I fertilize with the coffee formula and urea. We only harvest the right cherries looking for the best point in ripening and once it has been harvested, we do a selection to be sure that there’s no green coffees included in the harvest. We do milling the very same day and the fermentation takes about 24 hours. We harvest using 15 to 20 people and the drying is done using a plastic sheet on top of the floor and it takes about two weeks for it to dry.
Until this year we have been able to get the opportunity to sell directly to a buyer, my coffee and for this I thank Rony Gamez, because he helped organize this microlot. He motivated me to prepare this and he also introduced me to the buyer that bought my coffee. I also thank the buyer for selecting my coffee and having such a good price for me. I hope I’m going to be able to get a better income and be able to provide better for my family. With this sale I hope I’m able to invest in my coffee farm and be able to offer more quality coffee for the next year.
