City Coffee Guide - Auckland

Auckland coffee culture has really stepped up its game and it’s now deservedly regarded as one of the great coffee capitals of the world.

It seems that every week a new café or roastery opens and us caffeine lovers are now spoilt for choice when it comes to fantastic places to grab a brew. But this does mean that picking a coffee joint in Auckland can be seriously headache inducing!

The good news is there are plenty of great spots to enjoy a cup right across the city, so you’re never too far from a fix.

Fresh Pots by Flight Coffee – 155 Queen St Auckland

If you blind you will probably miss this little coffee place by Flight Coffee. It might be small but it still manages to pump out the best brews in Auckland. They have it all from filter, to cold brews and of course the famous flat white.

Espresso Workshop Britomart – 11 Britomart Place Auckland

The principle of unlocking the flavour potential of speciality coffee is the driving factor behind an exceptional company I was able to visit the other day. In the heart of Britomart, Auckland, the city espresso bar proudly owned and operated by Espresso Workshop was in full swing; the staff rushed off their feet, serving, cooking, delivering and making outstanding coffee to my delight!

Eighthirty Coffee Roasters – 553 Karangahape Rd Newton

Eighthirty Coffee Roasters opened 4 years ago and have been supplying some of our favorite cafes in Auckland and Wellington with their strong and great tasting coffee ever since. The coffee brewery have two sites: one smaller roasting space in the popular Ponsonby Central, and their main perch on K’ Road

Atomic Roastery – 420c New North Rd Kingsland

Being one of the only cafes in Auckland to have a dedicated Brew Bar, you can enjoy a single origin coffee made with the syphon or Hario drip. Whether it’s slow brew or espresso, the coffee is always good.

Chuffed – 43 High St Auckland

Chuffed is a small room, its walls decorated with murals by Auckland painter and illustrator Erin Forsyth. Outside, a surprisingly large courtyard stretches the length of the building, made cosy with an open fire and piles of blankets.
